Reflections of Society Through the Literary Lens.
Welcome, readers,
In a world increasingly dominated by technology and education, there are many opinions on various topics. People’s opinions often depend on their knowledge and cultural background.
Today, I will share my views on the topic: "Literature as a Mirror of Society."
After reading this, the first question that may come to mind is: What is the definition of society?
In my view, society refers to the combination of nature and culture, including humans. It encompasses where you live, the lifestyle you follow, and the people around you.
Now, let's discuss my perspective on literature as a mirror of society. Literature represents events that reflect our real or imagined lives in various written forms.
For example, works like the "Mahabharata" and the "Ramayana" differ significantly from "Paradise Lost" and "Beowulf" because they reflect the cultures of different regions.
In India, where liquor is banned in some places, Indian literature reflects this aspect less. In contrast, countries where liquor is legal might focus on it more in their literature.
It's also evident that contemporary literature, whether in books or films, is heavily influenced by Western culture. However, earlier works were influenced by Vedic culture.
These examples suggest that literature indeed mirrors society by reflecting our daily lives and routines.
Here are a few more examples:
1. Diversity of Language: India has a vast linguistic diversity, while countries like Germany, Japan, and Britain have less. This difference affects the volume of literary works and their cultural context.
2. **Film Industry Representation**: Hollywood movies often feature superheroes with various powers, while Bollywood and Tollywood films depict gods with different powers. If both industries were to depict the opposite ideas, their movies might not resonate well.
3. **Focus of Literature**: In India, literature often focuses on agricultural life, while in countries like Japan, it centers around technology and industrial occupations.
This concludes my perspective on the topic. If you found this blog noteworthy, please share it widely.
